No Giving up: stories of unfinished journeys - May 2015

"No Giving up", a JRS Malta publication was launched on Friday 15th May at San Anton Palace under the patronage of her Excellency Marie Louise Coleiro Preca. This publication recounts the experience of six Somali women who are seeking asylum in Malta.

Through this publication the women voice their fears, but also their dreams. They speak about the reasons they left their country and the challenges they faced throughout their journey, which is as yet unfinished. They make a strong appeal to our solidarity as they persist in their search for protection and for a life of freedom and dignity.

Integration in Action - May 2015

In 2015, JRS Malta once again embarked on a school outreach project, titled Integration in Action, which was made possible through the support of the President’s Award for Creativity that was awarded to JRS Malta on 16th October 2014.

With the support of the Ministry for Education, Integration in Action, took on a new format from previous projects in this area;  focusing on a considerably smaller number of schools and reaching out to a more modest number of students, this project aimed to facilitate the integration of migrants and refugees by enhancing their capacity to act as agents of change and foster a culture of welcome and inclusion in Maltese society. Through the use of theatre and drama, the participants raised awareness of their experiences, thus fostering a deeper understanding of the causes of forced displacement, promoting greater respect for human dignity and appreciation of the diversity of people and cultures in Malta.
