More Refugees Rescued

Over 100 refugees fleeing the conflict in Libya were brought ashore today after having been rescued by the Armed Forces of Malta in heavy seas some 45 nautical miles (83km) south west of Malta. The 116 people on board the overcrowded 15-metre boat included women and children. They had reportedly been out at sea for some nine days after running out of fuel earlier on in the journey. One woman had already died by the time the rescuers arrived on the spot.
