On Sunday 13th May, a number of refugees who regularly attend Sunday Mass at Tal-Qroqq shared a celebration at Fekruna, Xemxija, dedicated to all their mothers, who are so far away.
After Mass celebrated by Fr. Mauki SJ, there was a barbecue, African music and vocal entertainment.
'Mother's day was a good opportunity to pray for our beloved mothers who most of us have left far, far a way. The Sunday picnic was a time of being together in a spirit of friendship, experiencing also the beauty of the sea, which for most of them still brings to mind the dangerous journey they had to get here. For many of our friends that was the first time since they arrived in Malta last year that they experienced a time of relaxation and good atmosphere.
There were about 25 of us, including maltese people,' said Br. Jarek, a Polish Jesuit presently in Malta working with the Jesuit Refugee Service.
