CALL – TEACHER

JRS Malta is seeking to contract two TEACHERS with experience teaching English as a foreign language to work within a project ‘STRONGER TOGETHER’ which is funded by the Commonwealth Foundation.

Terms and conditions

The post is a part-time post for a definite period of 16 weeks, including initial induction. Selected candidates would be expected to work between 8 and 10 hours per week, on weekdays between 09:00 and 19:00, at times to be established by agreement with the organization. Individuals who cannot offer at least 8 hours per week need not apply.

Selected candidates will be expected to sign a contract of service outlining the terms and conditions of service; they will be paid €12 per hour.

Job description

Selected candidates would be expected to:

→   prepare and provide a 12-week programme of English classes (either basic or intermediate level) to refugee families currently residing in Open Centres

→   support JRS outreach activities within the centres where necessary

 

In addition, the selected candidates would be expected to attend training activities and planning meetings with the other members of project staff, as directed by the project coordinator.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must:

→      be in possession of the necessary qualifications to teach English as a foreign language

→      have at least 9 months experience teaching English as a foreign language

→      be able to speak and write English fluently

→      be able to work independently and take initiative

→      have good communication and organisational skills

→      have the flexibility to respond to possible changes in class composition and attendance during the programme

→      be able to work in a team

→      be willing to work with and for people from diverse cultures

 

Experience working with people from diverse cultures would be considered an asset.
