CALL – TEACHER 

 

JRS Malta is seeking to contract TEACHERS with experience teaching English as a foreign language to conduct the following language courses during the period between September and December 2017, within different projects currently being run by the organisation.

-       Intensive English Courses of 4-6 weeks duration at basic, intermediate and advanced level 

-       A 4-week IELTS preparation course 

The contract of service will require a daily part-time commitment for a definite period of between 4 and 10 weeks, depending on the length of the course. Selected candidates will be expected to attend one or more induction sessions and to work between 4.5 to 9 hours a day on weekdays between 09:00 and 19:00, at times to be established by agreement with the organization.

Selected candidates will be expected to sign a contract of service outlining the terms and conditions of service; they will be paid €13 per hour.

Job Description 

Selected candidates will be expected to: 

→ Prepare and deliver a 4-6 week Intensive English Language Course at either basic, intermediate and/or advanced level and/or an IELTS Preparation Course to refugees currently seeking to further their education or enhance their employability

→ Assess students at the start and end of the course to determine their language level. 

→ Keep updated records of attendance and performance throughout the course

→ Attend induction sessions and planning meetings with the other members of project staff, as directed by the project coordinator.

 

Qualifications Applicants must:

→ be in possession of the necessary qualifications to teach English as a foreign language

→ have at least 9 months experience teaching English as a foreign language 

→ be able to speak and write English fluently

→ be able to work independently and take initiative

→ have good communication and organisational skills

→ have the flexibility to respond to possible changes in class composition and attendance during the programme

→ be able to work in a team

→ be willing to work with and for people from diverse cultures 

Experience working with people from diverse cultures will be considered an asset.
