The first thing most Maltese people hear about in connection with asylum seekers and forcibly displaced people arriving in Malta is how many of them are reaching our shores. Very often this is the only thing we hear about.

We almost never have the opportunity to hear, first hand, what it really means to be fleeing from your homeland, sometimes fearing for your life or not knowing whether loved ones have survived other untold hardships.

Rarely do we hear the story of an individual seeking refuge and safety in Malta. And yet each person has their own story of hardship, anguish, hope and faith. This page is dedicated to those who have agreed to tell their stories. Names have been changed to protect privacy.
